Base64 to Image
Decode a Base64 image string or Data URI, preview supported images and download the original file. Restore PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP and recognised image formats locally.
Your result will appear here.
How to turn Base64 into an image
- Paste the Base64 string or the complete data:image/…;base64,… URI.
- Decode the content. The image type is detected from the decoded bytes, not the prefix alone.
- Preview supported formats and download the original image file.
Working with Base64 to Image
The tool identifies the image from its bytes rather than trusting the Data URI label. Supported browser images can be previewed. Active SVG is not inserted into the page, and formats such as TIFF may need to be downloaded to view.
Decode a one-pixel GIF Data URI
- Input
data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7- Result
result.gif (image/gif, 1 × 1 px, 42 B)
Questions about Base64 to Image
Should I paste the Data URI prefix too?
Either form works: the Base64 payload alone or a complete data:image/png;base64,… URI. Paste only the value, not surrounding HTML tags, CSS url() syntax or JSON quotes. Spaces, tabs and line breaks within the encoded text are ignored.
Does Base64 to PNG convert any image into PNG?
No. Decoding restores the original bytes; it does not change the image format, dimensions or quality. A PNG is downloaded as .png, a JPEG as .jpg. To change formats after decoding, use the image converter.
Why is there no preview, or why is my image rejected?
SVG and TIFF are download-only here; other previews depend on browser support and valid image data. File signatures identify recognised formats but do not prove a file is intact. A non-image or unrecognised format is rejected even if its prefix says image/png. Use Base64 to File for other data.
Can I decode Base64URL and large images?
Valid standard Base64 and URL-safe Base64 are accepted, with or without valid = padding. Do not mix the +/ and -_ alphabets or replace + with a space. Encoded input is limited to 48 MiB of text and the decoded file to 32 MiB. A truncated string cannot restore missing bytes.
Are my files, tokens or text uploaded?
No. These tools process your input in your browser. The website serves the page and its code, but your input is not sent to a conversion server or saved in an account.
