How to format, validate or minify JSON

  1. Paste a JSON document, such as an API response or a configuration.
  2. Choose Format for readable indentation, Minify for compact output, or Validate to check syntax.
  3. Set indentation or key sorting as needed, then copy or download the result.

Working with JSON Formatter, Minifier & Validator

Formatting preserves numeric literals, including integers beyond JavaScript’s safe-number range. Comments and trailing commas are rejected. Duplicate object keys are reported so that formatting cannot silently discard a value.

JSON formatting example: a large integer stays exact

Input
{"message":"Hello, world! 👋","id":9007199254740993,"enabled":true}
Result
{ "message": "Hello, world! 👋", "id": 9007199254740993, "enabled": true }

Questions about JSON Formatter, Minifier & Validator

What is the difference between formatting and minifying JSON?

Formatting adds indentation and line breaks for reading. Minifying removes unnecessary whitespace outside strings. Neither operation is intended to change your values; spaces inside strings are preserved.

Will large JSON integers lose precision?

This formatter preserves numeric literals, including 9007199254740993, without converting them to JavaScript numbers. That avoids rounding identifiers beyond the safe integer range.

Why is my JSON invalid?

Common causes include single quotes, unquoted keys, trailing commas and comments. This tool also rejects duplicate object keys instead of silently dropping a value. It reports errors rather than guessing repairs.

Does sorting keys change array order?

No. Sorting applies to object keys, including nested objects. Array elements keep their order. Formatted JSON is not a cryptographic canonicalization format for signing.

Are my files, tokens or text uploaded?

No. These tools process your input in your browser. The website serves the page and its code, but your input is not sent to a conversion server or saved in an account.

  • JWT Decoder

    Read JWT headers and payloads, inspect expiry and activation times, and view claims without sending your token anywhere.

  • Text Diff Checker

    Compare two texts by line, word or character. Highlight additions and removals while retaining spaces and line breaks.

  • Base64 Encoder & Decoder

    Encode UTF-8 text to Base64 or decode standard and URL-safe Base64. Control padding and line wrapping.

Common tasks and examples

  • Base64 Decoder

    Decode Base64 to readable UTF-8 text, or download the original bytes.

  • JSON Minifier

    Compact JSON to one line while keeping string contents and exact numbers.
