Code 49 barcode generator
Make compact, multi-row Code 49 labels for part or batch references. Preview your barcode and download PNG or SVG.
Using Code 49
Code 49, also known as USS-49, stores one message across 2 to 8 rows of bars. It can fit a reference into a narrower label than a long single-row barcode. All rows belong to one code, so keep them together. Your reader must support Code 49; support for Code 128 alone is not enough.
Download PNG for documents or SVG for a sharp, resizable print layout. Generation takes place in your browser, without an account.
Questions about Code 49
- Does Code 49 always hold 49 characters?
- No. The name is not a character limit. Capacity depends on the characters: digits, uppercase letters and lowercase letters can take different amounts of space. If a reference is too long, shorten it or choose a format your reader supports. Do not crop rows or squeeze the image to make it fit. Test a label printed at its final size.
- How do I check the code before printing?
- Leave the white margins intact, keep the image in proportion and scan a sample at its final printed size with the device you intend to use.
