GS1-128, formerly UCC/EAN-128, is used in logistics and supply chains. The field prefixes describe the data: (01) is a 14-digit GTIN, (17) an expiry date in YYMMDD order, and (10) a batch or lot number. In this example, 271231 means 31 December 2027.
