Codabar barcode generator (NW-7)
Create Codabar / NW-7 labels for library or existing inventory systems and download PNG or SVG.
Using Codabar
Codabar, also called NW-7, is a linear barcode used in library and other established label systems. The letters at the ends mark where the code starts and stops; they are not ordinary letters in the identifier. Use the start/stop pair and numbering rules required by your receiving system.
Download PNG for documents or SVG for a sharp, resizable print layout. Generation takes place in your browser, without an account.
Questions about Codabar
- Why does the generated code contain an extra character?
- This generator automatically inserts a Modulo 16 check character just before the final A–D letter. Enter the identifier without that extra check character. Codabar systems do not all use the same checksum rules, so confirm compatibility with your scanner and software before printing a batch.
- How do I check the code before printing?
- Leave the white margins intact, keep the image in proportion and scan a sample at its final printed size with the device you intend to use.
