USPS PLANET barcode generator for legacy mail tracking

Create legacy USPS PLANET Code barcodes and download PNG or SVG for archived mail designs and compatibility testing.

Using USPS PLANET

PLANET Code was used by the USPS Confirm service to identify and trace mailpieces. It is not a ZIP-code-only barcode: POSTNET carried the routing information. Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb) combines these roles in one symbol. This page reproduces the older PLANET format.

Download PNG for documents or SVG for a sharp, resizable print layout. Generation takes place in your browser, without an account.

Questions about USPS PLANET

Will downloading a PLANET barcode activate USPS tracking?
No. Drawing a barcode does not register a mailpiece or activate a tracking service. Use PLANET for legacy records or system tests, with the identifier required by that system. For a new mailing, follow current USPS requirements and use Intelligent Mail barcode (IMb) where required.
How do I check the code before printing?
Leave the white margins intact, keep the image in proportion and scan a sample at its final printed size with the device you intend to use.
